Can you buy a new ignition that fits existing keys?

My ignition is starting to not like my keys. I have purchased new keys but they still will not turn the ignition sometimes without a lot of effort. I've tried graphite as well, no difference.

Can a new ignition be purchased that will work with existing keys so I can retain one key for ignition and doors?

No. Your best bet is to graphite the lock really good and get a key cut off the vin at the dealer.

Only random key locks are available now. With certain cylinders unavailable. [ rear door hatch cylinders]

Thanks. Not what I was hoping but it was what I was expecting.

I had the same problem with one key not working. I have both, but I wanted
two working keys. A locksmith pulled two tumblers from the ignition cyl and now
both original keys work.

I hadn't thought about that. I'm going to get the dealership to cut a new key based on VIN, throw some more graphite at it, and pray. If that doesn't work I'll see what a locksmith can do.

Yes. Locksmiths might be your only solution at this point to rekey. Some guys have experimented with redoing locks. I had good luck with good clean new keys with graphite.

A little late to the party, but when I replaced my ignition due to binding I took the new ignition cylinder and extra blank keys I ordered along with the key code I got from the dealership to my locksmith. He cut the blank keys for the current key code and rekeyed the lock cylinder to the current key code as well. Everything works great and made for a seamless ignition cylinder swap.

Definitely not too late, I haven't done anything yet. I appreciate the info, I'll check around and see who my good local locksmiths are if I end up having to replace the ignition.
