Canadian v US Models

The purpose of this thread is to document the differences between Canadian and US models. Mainly this information would help clarify the decision of which model to purchase, but it is also useful for modding purposes. Please correct/add to what I have here. Its an active list so I will edit it as I come across new information.

Exterior

LE- Identical with the addition of running boards
TE- Identical with the addition of running boards
SR5- Pretty significant differences. The C model appears to be trimmed the same as the TE but with colour matched bumpers. This includes the higher cut bumpers, rocker panels etc. SR5 rock sliders will not work on a C SR5, you will require TE sliders.

We definitely have different model colour options here

Interior

I believe we have different colour options, that's about it.

Other

I believe that the backup warning may be port installed, although I hear some references to it on US models, so it might be an option there.

We don't have access to 2x4 models (not any loss IMO)

C models are about 6-8000$ more

That's about all I can think of for now, I'll add more later.

Great thread, it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with. I will add a minor one.

Trail Edition
- Navigation optional in US, not available in Canada.

I find the BFG A/T pretty good in the snow, the stock Dunlops on the FJ were a nightmare. The get the BFGs installed on my 4Runner on monday.

Most be would probably say that Bridgestone Revo II A/T would be a better choice for snow and just by comparing the two I would probably tend to agree. That said I have had no issues with the BFGs through 2 Calgary winters.

The find the BFGs a good all around A/T tire that has good looks, longevity, on-road and off-road capabilities.

What are the different color options? I looked online and the only difference I saw was that you couldn't get blizzard pearl in a SR5.

Here is a Canadian SR5 in Blizzard Pearl from the Toyota.Ca website

May be a picture of one but you can't get an SR5 in BP up here. If you go to Build & Price on toyota.ca you can only select BP on an LE.

All Canadian TEs come with KDSS and without Nav.

You can have almost any color you want as long as it is not white! (Henry Ford's second cousin twice removed....) :reddance:

Minor diff, but for some reason, there are no badges on the c pillar of the Canadian 4runners.

Also, 3rd row is standard on the Canadian Limited and SR5 with Leather seats.

In ON, the LE's have no C pillar badge, but the SR5's do (at least until you get them home from the dealer:) )

The 3rd row seating is only in the premium upgrade package, which includes leather. In the US you can option the 3rd rows in either leather or cloth I believe.

Thanks for the info, I'm looking at new tires sometime before the winter, so contemplating snow/all terrain combo tires.

I have a US 2010 LE..

differences..

US "LIMITED" on pillar ,, missing on Canadian trucks
US gets SOS system safety connect works in Canada, not available on Canadian trucks, blank in roof console.
US optional slider on LE. Canadian LE's only get third row.
US LE no running boards or mudflaps. Canadian 2010 gets "unique" running boards and 2011 gets running boards and mudflaps. (port installed)
On the US LE the lights witch stalk has an extra "off" for DRLs to be disabled, Canadian trucks do not.

The US nav can be switched to km but the temp and distance (guages above) remains fahrenheit and miles, dealer might be able to reprogram that? Obviously, the the KM and miles are reversed, odometer stays in miles and no French labeling.

Currently, Canadian trucks pull to the right and US trucks pull to the left but that might change in 2012..:jk:

Another difference I just noticed, The Canadian sr5s have trail mirrors

At this point I think there's more (cosmetic) similarities to the trail than the US version

Canadian SR5 comes with 3rd row standard. 2 rows only is not an option. Which sucks.

In the US, 3rd row seating is a 200$ option.

3rd row seating eats up a lot of space and raise the cargo floor significantly. Having to upgrade to a TRD or Limited to get 5 passenger is kinda pointless.

I picked a 2017 TRD Off Road over the SR5 for a few reasons one being the lack of third row seating, I liked the wheels better and I liked the solid black interior over the two tone black gray of the SR5. The Limited had too much chrome and the TRD Pro up charge was not worth it to me and not readily available. YMMV.
