CanBus and bulb replacements

So if my reading and comprehension are on point...the considerations for 'CanBus' issues only apply to exterior lighting?

I am by no means an expert on lighting, but from my understanding you need the CANBUS for LEDs in the headlights. HIDs in the headlights don't require CANBUS. Interior LEDs don't require CANBUS.

What are you trying to do?

High beams will need CANBUS, regardless of bulb type except for stock halogens (i.e. LED).
Low beams will function normally sans CANBUS adapter.

Researching various LED's for interior replacements and came across the mention of CanBus, just wanted to verify it's a non-issue for interior lighting.

Dont get the super cheap ebay LED kits. they are too blue and they start to flicker after a few months...

My favorite are the JDM ASTAR LEDs. Relatively cheap and I've never had any issues with them. They have a higher lumen output and the color is actually white not blueish

Looking at the Amazon page and doing the "check to see if these fit your vehicle" thing...apparently none of them fit a 2017 4Runner.

Don't see what the issue is, maybe just their end is hosed...a 168/194 bulb is a 168/194 bulb, isn't it?

The bulbs should fit. When it comes to things like that, don’t trust Amazon’s application guide. It normally works for things like parts, filters, etc. but I don’t even normally use it for that. I always verify from a manufacturer website.

Thank you Sir. I kinda figured that was likely the case, just wanted to ensure I wasn't venturing into old-guy-brain-fart land...

Amazon's "vehicle fit" has never been good.

They all fit. I have all of them in my 2015. The back up lights are great, they really help the reverse camera at night.

FYI I just installed this kit from Precision LED on a 2018. A bit pricy but no blue tint at all and they include plastic trim removal tools. They also have a good video on youtube that really helped me not break anything....

Good luck with these lasting you. I had several bulbs that went out or stopped working completely within months. I did contact them for replacements which they did sent but the wrong color temp as went. I had to reach out to them about 6 times in less than a year. After so many attempts, I didn't even bother contacting them any more because they would always send out the wrong colors or the shipment would get lost and you would not hear from them after the fact. Just my personal experience with them. I have the phillips LEDs right now and no issues. You probably will have more l luck buying a cheaper set on amazon. The only good from all of this were the panel trim tools which I use quite a bit.

Precision's Youtube Video is great for help with the install. But their Amazon kit is really overpriced.

If you need the pry tools get them for $5 at Harbor Freight. Or even Amazon
