Cant remove the drum!!!

My truck doesn't have a PARK position!

I'm not sure if it's different on the auto trans, but there are only 2 inputs to the rear brakes- the hydraulic line, which as far as I know does not connect to the transmission (definitely does not on the manual) and the parking brake cable. How is the transmission setting affecting the rear brakes?

It allows the axle to spin freely and thus help you wiggle the drum off i guess. Don't ask me exactly how it works haha it just does. All I know is that when my 4Runner is in park the drums will not come off but when it is in neutral they will. (I'm only jacking up 1 wheel at a time, so that may have an impact) What is it going to hurt if he tries? Just a suggestion and what works for me.

Not saying it would hurt anything, just not sure how it works! I think your free axle theory is probably the case...

I don't know haha but on every car I've done it on Ive put it in neutral. My uncle (mechanic) taught me to do that when I was little, never got to ask why but it's worked ever since. All I do is spray PB blaster in where the lug nuts are, tap around the outside with a hammer, put it in neutral, and pull it off.
