Car burps/rumbles off of cold start.

Hello,

I was just wondering I have a '99 Toyota 4-Runner and in the mornings when I start it (cold start) and the temperature is moderate outside (70-80 degrees) my car starts to burp/shake/rumble like it's about to die and the RPM's are very low (under 1000). I don't know why and it has been going on for awhile now. Now after I start it and let it warm up for awhile (maybe a minute or two) I can tell a difference in the sound of the engine because it starts idling normally and hits a moderate RPM on the gauge. I don't think it is water in my gas tank because it only happens off of a cold start. Any tips/suggestions/same experiences would be very appreciative. Also, I live in a humid area if that makes any difference.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like the engine is running lean to me, which means you have a fuel delivery problem. What kind of routine maintenance have you done in the past?

Thanks. Yea I was looking through the forum a little more and I think it might be the MAF sensor since I never cleaned it. I bought some MAF sensor cleaner at the store though and also add some fuel injector cleaner just to make sure it isn't that either. Thanks again and hopefully this works!!
