If you bought the oil filters from a Toyota Dealer who lists on Amazon, then the filters should be genuine. If in doubt the Car Care Nut has tips on identifying counterfeit filters in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVA4RYql9KU&t=11s starting at time stamp 14:40

I checked my filters bought on Amazon. Tall box. Made in Taiwan. Passed the squeeze test. Verdict: Genuine Toyota

Don't know why anyone would buy these filters anywhere but at a Toyo dealer.
They just went up a bit since I bought them 2 years ago, they are now $3.94

Well I learned something new: what that plastic thingy is for. Still don't know what the smaller o-ring is for, but assumed it was for a different model.

Well I learned something new: what that plastic thingy is for. Still don't know what the smaller o-ring is for, but assumed it was for a different model.

The smaller o-ring should fit the plug on the bottom of the oil filter housing. If you use the "plastic thingy", you have to remove the bottom plug and then replace the o-ring on the plug before installing it. I don't remove this plug, but perhaps I should replace its o-ring once every 5 years or so ...
