Car smell help

GSFRunner

New member
I have a 2008 4Runner with the shelf in the cargo area. Our puppy peed on the shelf and I can't get the smell out. I've tried scrubbing it, powders, foams, sprays, leaving the windows down, etc. Does anyone have any ideas? If not, I'll replace it if possible--does anyone know the part number for the shelf? I've looked on sites like Order Parts but haven't had any luck. I'm currently in South Korea and don't have the option of taking it to a dealer.

Thanks

My dog did the same, it eventually went away but what i found helpful is to get those tree shaped air fresheners and leave them i nthe area that smells. It will cover it up, not sure if it will get rid of it (try rubbing them on the spot). theres like 20+ scents so youll find one you like im sure :)

OH NO.

Ok. Note for future reference. Their pee, like cats, contain their marking scents that have had eons of evolutionary design to stay potent.

They make very special enzymatic animal oder removers that work very well. Having 2 dogs and a cat, I learned early on.

If you use over the counter chemicals, they don't seem to attack it well, and it will chemical lock it in for awhile.

My suggestion? Get a bottle of the animal enzymatic cleaner and patience......

time eases all wounds.

^^^ x2. A few years back I found an all natural cleaner at a local pet store that had some enzymes in it and claimed to be harmless to the environment. All I had to do was pour it on the stain, let it soak for a little bit, then dampen it up with a towel/napkins.
It takes a while to dry, depending on how much you have to pour out, but after 2 applications, it worked great!

Good Luck!!!

odoban works great...pick it up at home depot...my gf goes through gallons as we have a lot of dogs and shows to attend..i think they have a non scented version out also..
