Car wash scratches

Like a moron I went to the car wash and used that brush on my new 4Runner even though I've been told not to use that brush. Any way I can get those annoying scratches out? Thanks

a full detail should get those out. Or a wax with a lot of filler.

I avoid those at all costs.

Clay bar, good polish with a machine (or by hand) followed with a good wax and a sealer. If its fine clear coat scratches that is.

My wife let her brother wash her car and he did the same thing, I had to use my Porter Cable Dual Action buffer to get out the damage he did to the paint.

Don't use car washes. Use this if you can't use a hose during the winter. This stuff is amazing and extremely versatile.........

FWIW I've never had an issue with scratching from those brushes. You just have to thoroughly blast it with the high pressure soap before using it.

If they are light, you can probably get them out with some Dual Action Cleaner Polish from Meguirs and a Dual Action polisher. Follow up with a coat of your favorite wax. If that doesn't work, you can step up to a Rotary Buffer with the same compound. If you haven't used one before, I recommend taking it to a body shop, because you can easily burn your paint with a Rotary Buffer.

Anything wrong with the high pressure, touch-free car washes in the winter? I use those at least once every 1-2 weeks to remove the salt. Personally, I've never experienced any problems with those.

Touch Free is just that, touch free. When driving on salted roads, it is definitely important to rinse the salt off of the under-carriage regularly. I have heard of vehicles up in Maine rusting away in 2-4 years because the owner never bothered to clean the under-carriage of the car during the winter.

My truck gets a good spray at the do-it-yourself washes at least within a day or two of a storm or I'll use the touchless automatics if it's too cold but I never use those brushes and no matter how good you spray the brush down those brushes have sharp edges to the bristles from constant use so DON'T use those brushes.
If anything touches the car or truck it's a ultra soft scrub cloth or mitt and even those will still finely swirl the paint.

Before winter hits I would suggest using a really good wax that is durable, I usually use collinite insulator wax...the first line of defense is getting a coat or two of this on before the salt, I personally will never go to a car wash after they ruined my friends Syclone so I use optimum no rinse wash in a bottle even in the winter to do quick wipe downs or a hose off. Worse case if you have to go weeks because its freezing out the insulator wax will hold up and protect the paint, I usually get a month or two out of each coat even washing the car with a strong car wash.
