carcrazysammy's build thread LOCKERS INSTALLED!!

Hello all,

I thought it was about time I start a build thread on my 2006 4-runner.

My brother works for the testing facility in Arizona and he got me a great deal on this truck new. It is a 2006 V8 sport edition. My wife got a 2014 Trail model so I inherited the 2006. The build thread should have been started about 3 months ago when I got possession of it but better late than never. Here are the specs as it sits.

Sonoran Steel Lift with Tundra TRD front springs, Radflow rear coils and Bilstein 5100 shocks and struts. This lift kit does not effect the ride quality at all. It actually rides nicer but the handling is just a little bit more sluggish.

Looks good! Don't think I've seen anyone use a Sonoran lift on a 4th gen. Welcome to the forum!

The ARB front and rear lockers arrived this week. The compressor goes in tomorrow. Rear End & Differential Repair Service | Livermore CA is going to install the lockers on the 26th. They have great reviews and after speaking with Barry I have confidence they are the best shop to do the installation.

The compressor was completed about 5 miniutes ago. All I got to say is what a great product. When I start a project there are always snags cut this one went together with none at all.

ARB lockers are in!!

The Rear End Shop Livermore did a stellar job getting the lockers installed. They were kind enough to snap some picts as well!! The picts will do the talking.

After getting the lockers installed and putting 200 miles on the truck I set off for the Niagra Rim Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Here is a video of 4 runners tackling the trail. The video does not do it justice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldP-_XJngUY It is a much more difficult trail than i had anticipated.

On one part of the trail I was sliding down hill and had a run-in with a tree. Kind of modified my front bumper.

In all I am very happy with everything so far.

Shrockworks bumper on the way. I ordered it 4 months ago so it should be here next month. The damage was from that hit witht he tree.
The funny thing was when I hit the tree it was so soft I did not even get out to look. I only noticed it when I took this picture.

Nice. I don't think anyone here is running a front locker that I know of. Any CV binding issues?

None as of yet. I have noticed that my turn radius decreases by half if the front locker is on. It is more or less for straight roads. There are tighter twisties but little need for the front locked.

This was only my first trail but a great test anyway.

Today I got the Budbuilt 5 piece skid and rear differential plate delivered. First impression is crap, I should have not have got them powder coated in red. Somewhere I saw a picture of a badass 4runner with red Budbuilt plates that inspired me. Now that they are here it seems a bit loud.

The second observation is these suckers are HEAVY!!

Third, they are beautifully made. It is a damn shame something so nice is made to beat on.

No instructions were included and the online version does not give a description of where each piece of hardware should go where. Does anyone have a set of instructions they can share? If not I will give Budbuilt a call in the morning.
