Cargo Shelf Weight Limit?

Hello all,
I'm planning to build my sleeping platform using the Cargo shelf, and use some plastic bins of similar height to the Cargo Shelf that will hold other gear in the location of where the 2nd row seats would be, so I can just throw an inflatable mattress in the back. But i'm wondering, Is there a weight limit to the cargo shelf?

Thanks

Mine says 65 pounds right on it.

Dang it.. Thought it could hold more.. Interesting though. I did just buy this car used and there was nothing that stated the weight limit on the shelf, and I don't have the manual... :/

Thanks for the information though

I have a toolbox that matches the under space we'll and supports it. Thus I don't worry about the weight limit much.

Technically it's around 65 pounds but I have put more on it. If you can buy some containers that or build a box that fits under the platform you should be fine. Just don't put all your weight directly on it.

I think if you put a center brace in the middle, probably would hold a lot of weight and be fine for sleeping

Hmm, good to know. I'll probably end up building a T to support the center of the self and then use it to organize my containers. Hopefully that'll hold..

I don't camp in my rig yet, but use the shelf regularly since it's a good way to hide my tools from view. I also have a milk crate that I've cut a notch out (maybe 2" vertically, 1/2" inwards) from one side, so I can shove it on the non elevated bed, and the notch allows for me to shove it on enough that the hatch can close. If you cut down the milk crate a few inches all around, it'll easily fit under the shelf, thus creating support and a basic pull-out storage.
