This is such a flawed argument. There are many experienced or professional drivers who have died while casually driving down the road because mistakes or unexpected things happen.
Not one of you in this thread talking about your wonderful driving skills can claim, with any reason, that zero scenario exists where ABS, traction control, etc. could save you your someone else's ass.
Sure, most of us got around just fine leaning on our extremely fantastic and amazing driving skills. But there are so many more cars on the road today and half of the drivers are distracted, vehicles are much larger and weigh more, speed limits are higher, there's a higher frequency of severe weather, and roads are in increasingly worse condition. The fact is that we have this mature technology that automatically makes vehicles so much safer than they used to be, and it's even designed to be turned off when reasonable to do so.
If you want to enjoy ripping donuts and slide around corners, I promise that you bought the wrong vehicle. I say all this having physically torn out traction control on my M3 over a decade ago because the older systems sucked. That's no longer true. These systems in the 4runner are pretty damn good, too. Why turn it off? If they're kicking in, adjust your driving style or buy better tires.
Edit: Plus, what do you think will happen if you're involved in a crash and insurance finds out that you intentionally disabled a safety system?
