Carpet Kits

Looking to purchase carpets for 90 T4r 4x4 and with 220K miles having a discussion w/ self whether replace just the cargo area or entire kit. Came across a few supplier's who offer individual sections; front/rear, cargo , or entire kit; ACC, S, JC Whitney, etc., from $290-$500. Would appreciate comments/suggestions if found kit they are pleased with results and quality from supplier?

My question: if decide to install the entire kit is it a difficult job? Are there special tools, or products required; i.e., adhesive, hardware, etc. that would add to the cost of the installation?

These were recommended in someone's thread. I believe the guy did interior installations for a living and said this place had really good kit. The price was nice too.

I've been thinking about putting in new carpet as well in my runner.. I've been setting up an amp and subwoofers, and I had to dig around the carpet and stuff and I'm realizing my carpet is downright vile and miserable.

I just picked up a '95 4Runner and I agree, "Vile and miserable" is the way to describe the carpet in this thing, especially in the cargo area.

In my case the cargo carpet is a must, and the front passenger side is questionable. Appears with the purchase of both comes close to cost of entire kit. Not familiar with ACC; which is 1 of the supplier's on Ebay, the other is S; which I found by cyber shopping online; posting link, which appears the least expensive and customer reviews are not too critical? Probly hold off for few weeks; awaiting other member experience?

90-95 Toyota 4Runner Carpet 4 Door Complete Kit 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995

I did my truck's carpet a few years back, it really wasn't that hard at all, just needed to trim the edges to fit the cab (they come longer than necessary so you can get them to fit exactly like you want it).

I would also suggest doing some soundproofing before dropping the carpet down, it sure does make the cab so much nicer to drive it without all the noise!

I put a TON of soundproofing down in mine though, including new synthetic sound mat (similar to the original jute mat), including behind the door panels, and the truck is now almost as quiet as my wife's '06 Odyssey!

Can't remember who I bought my carpet kit from, but it was around $250 and was way better quality than I expected. I'll see if I can dig up the company's name tomorrow.

The edges of the cargo area are coming out on mine.. I'm thinking of just ripping it all out and putting spray-on bedliner in there. Crazy idea?

Sound proof, good idea. Noticed the supplier in the link, Stockcarpet.com, offers couple options to include 'mass backing' describes as a heat and noise barrier, for an additional charge? Likely compare cost of 'do it myself' sound barrier, to the 'mass backing', not sure about the different shades of grey, order a 3 carpet samples and ask to throw in a sample of the 'mass backing'?

Not sure about the bed liner, odor may be abit over bearing on a hot summer day?

I think this is the company I used for my carpet:

Auto Interior and Upholstery-Factory Fit Molded Carpets And Molded Vinyl Floor Coverings

I used a local company for the soundproofing mat, but it can be bought on amazon here:

Amazon.com: Automotive Heat, Sound and Noise Insulation Padding: Automotive

I also went way overboard with the truck (and my 2011 4 runner too!), as I also laid down this stuff first:

http://www.amazon.com/FatMat-Self-Adhesive-RattleTrap-Deadener-Install/dp/B00DYAF9FY/ref=sr_1_1?

I guess that's why the truck is so quiet now! Of course, the 4 runner has a 52db noise level at 65mph on the highway, so I KNOW this combo works very well for noise "elimination"!

Make sure you keep your old carpet so you can use it to cut the holes in the new carpet, that makes it much easier to do the installation!

Upload some pics when you're done!

Thanks for the link, read Auto Interior customer comments and seems the kits are manufactured by ACC but at a lower price? The also offer the kit with the Mass Backing, waiting for the samples to determine if alternative to the 'do it myself' insulation. Great link-Again, thanks for the info!

Not sure what you don't believe. It low pile outdoor carpeting. I think this one was in precut rolls of 8x6 but I've bought it by the foot before off a 6' spool. Buy a chunk of rug, make a temple or use the factory run and cut it out. If you get the right outdoor stuff, it doesn't fray.

Up to you guys though.
