Carrying 400 lbs

Does anybody see a problem with carrying a 400 lb Honda generator in the back of a 4Runner? Just wondering if we should rent a trailer for it.

Your payload capacity should be well above that number. However, it depends on how many accessories you have bolted on it, which trim and year you have, what kind of shape your suspension is in, etc.

Internet say the payload is 880 lbs. That includes everything and driver too. I think we are OK. The generator comes in a box on a pallet. We'll take the box off the pallet, lay it on it's side and push it all the way forward with the seats folded down. I figure it will be like having two 200 lb guys in the back seats.

You should have no problems with the weight. Getting it it might be the hardest part.
