Hello,
I am a new member, I just purchased my new 05 SR5 4x4 V6 3 weeks ago from carsdirect.com and I picked it up at Toyota Rancho Santa Margarita (Orange County CA). ($27,000)
I first did a lot of research before going on my 2 week test driving binge of SUV's. Before I test drive I price the vehicle at carsdirect.com, because I've purchased 2 cars in the past for family members from them and I know that is the price to meet or beat.
I went to my local dealership Toyota of Carlsbad, and I was greeted by a salesperson who right off the bat was trying to qualify me. Before I could ask about what I wanted to look at he wanted to know when I was ready to buy, financing etc.. Because I've been burned in the past and I am now Savvy, I told him I need to to see the 4runner, test drive it, then talk price and options at the end. I went on a test drive and I was sold, but he wasn't sold on me, so he did the old hand off to a even more aggressive guy. This guy really put on the closing tactics of tryiing to get me interested in what was on the lot, rather than what I priced and wanted an SR5 4x4 in Galactic color.
Long boring story short, my wife and I walked as he then gave us a "let me check, while we waited outside 20min". We drove off, and I was so pissed that I even didn't get a chance for them to match carsdirect.com price, I immediatley called carsidrect and ordered the car (he found in 2 days).
Longer story shorter, you have to see this dealership at Rancho Santa Margarita! It is the biggest, baddest, nicest, dealership I've ever seen. Carsdirect is always great (I wanted to give local dealership a chance to match price, but it didn't get that far and I reassured myself why I hate carsalespeople).
Toyota of Rancho Santa Margarita is worth 30 minutes drive for my service and money. They were absolutely friendly and professional with a special internet department for sales.
