Which exaust system would be the best for letting the engine breathe the freest while keeping sound to a minimum? I wouldnt mind a slightly lower tone but i'm not looking for a system that lets me hear each piston firing off.

I would recommend the TRD exhaust for your 4Runner. TRD exhausts typically lean towards the quiet side of all available aftermarket exhausts, but they sound good and serve their purpose. Since you have a 2003 Sport with V8, you won't have the problem with installing it and needing to remove your spare tire. The 03s with XREAS are compatible with no problems. The downside is TRD is expensive. Do a search and you'll see many many other posts on this topic. If cost is an issue, you may try Borla or Magnaflow. Depends on the appearance and sound you're looking for. Good luck.

Gibson also makes an exhaust system that is a single exit pipe. The TRD, Magnaflow and Borla are all dual pipes. I'm going to make a leap of faith and say that the Gibson may be quieter than the others because of the single pipe.
