cat. not reading

So I have a code reader and im getting the notorious p0441,p0446 and some other codes but it keeps showing me on the little icons that my cat isn't registering and I cant pass my inspection like this and I was wondering if the cat was messed up and have to replace it. Im trying not to go to the stealership

I don't really understand "Cat not registering". Do you mean you are getting a Test Not ready or Not complete indication?

If you have reset codes while fighting the evap problem, you also reset the Cat test. But the cat test takes the longest to complete and if your driving does not meet the required profile it won't complete at all. Don't go to a dealer for a cat problem. They love swapping cats for $1800 when it's not necessary.

Thanks guys I will get to checking this stuff out to see if it works, I replaced my charcoal canister with a junk yard one but im guessing it may be a bad one as well.
