Yeah, I could see some noticeable differences by removing it on some vehicles with forced induction. Especially older ones like ours. However, with natural aspiration you would be lucky to get 2hp.

I had my CC removed years ago... I live on the fun side of the wall, so, i dont even know if its illegal here or not, the only place I know they have emissions testing is in the big Mexican Cities like Mexico City, Guadalajara or Monterrey.... but in Baja? pppfff i dont think so, in any case, there is no massive gain of anything, I just did it to stop dealing with a cracked exhaustion system every 6 months.
And now that i got me an OBD2 scanner I get 3 "serious" alerts related to the exhaustion and no reads in the O2 sensors etc... anyway, nothing has happened, ive been running my rig like this for at least 8 years now.

The only reason I (and possibly others) are interested in this thread is because we are looking for options IF our cat. ever gets cut out and stolen from our vehicle (as does happen).
I'm not putting a new ~$1k cat on my 24 year old T4R with 212k on it, or even want to spend a few hundred for an aftermarket, if it ever happens to me. I keep only liability insurance on my dinosaur, so insurance would cover nothing for me. But if all I had to do was buy a straight pipe, 2 clamps and try to trick my way around the 02 sensor(s), then it might not be all that big of a deal if my cat. is ever stolen. Starting in 2024, I no longer will need an emission inspection on mine, here in GA.

My cat was stolen so I found some scrap exhaust tubing and welded it in (shout out NM and no emissions testing county). Was there hp gains? No. Does it sound like crap? I don't think so/hardly notice the difference between stock. Downsides? Stinky startups on cold mornings. Positives? Can't get my cat stolen again! I did build my own O2 sensor fouler from a forum post I found here. That cost me probably $8 to do buying the capacitor and resistor. All in all, I wouldn't do it if I didn't have to.
