Sorry if I mess this up, this is my first post.
I live in CO, and during the winter the road spray from the other cars gets so thick on the headlights that they become practically useless. The previous owner had some cheap fog lights installed when I bought it, but they were flooded and useless. Originally I was going to do a Projector Retrofit and get some high quality HIDs, but I really dislike the look of a retrofit... I think it ruins the look of the headlights, but that's just me. Oh, and high quality headlights are worth a lot of money and I'm not lol. Anyways, I decided to find some projector fog lights and I ran across the Catz MSPs, and they were under $150 so that was good enough for me:
Right now I am installing them in the stock fog light location (I have a 98 so it's right next to the license plate). They are quite a bit too large so today I took the Dremel tool with a cutting wheel attached to it and cut out enough of the lower grill so that they would fit in. I took before pictures in case I mutilated the thing beyond repair:
Before cutting I used a pencil to mark out the approximate location and width of the cut. There is a single 1/4" hole in the steel portion of the bumper so I'm hoping that suffices and won't break on me (I'm using some JB Weld too just in case . That should also prevent the thing from turning. Here are the pencil markings I started with:
The cutting wheel was mess as f*** and threw melting plastic lava all over so that was pretty messy. Definitely wouldn't recommend doing that in a garage. It was effective though, so I can't complain too much. Now that I think about it, a hack saw would probably have been ideal but it's too late now. I had to take a break after the cutting to run to the hardware store and pick up some bolts because the provided mounting sheet metal screws didn't fit the hole size in the bumper. I grabbed some lock washers as well to hopefully prevent the thing from loosening.
Next steps:
Install the lights
Install the stock fog light switch I picked up off ebay
Run the wires through the firewall (worst. step. ever.)
Hook the wires up
Test it
Should be done by Friday, I'll post as I go. Broke my neck Mt Biking about a month ago so hopefully I can get a bit of help with that firewall from a buddy.
