Cause of Rear Tires cupping?

Ive got some cupping going on with my rear tires. The drivers is alot worse than the passenger, but what could cause this? What ive looked up says biggest cause is old/worn shocks and suspension, but ive got 5100s all the way around. Going to take it to a shop just wanted to see if anyone has experience with this.

They’re 285/75 r17 k02s probably around 15-20k miles old.

Check/change tire pressures. I don't know what it should be at, 30-35psi maybe, but it sounds like a factor you've excluded.

Sorry should have mentioned that also. I checked pressure and both were at 33psi

Thank you, I just bought this rig about a month ago so I dont know for sure, but I believe it is that they weren’t rotated properly and the fact of the oversized tires. The fronts looks brand new and the rears are cupped and the left rear has slight inner wear. Guess I need 2 new tires and to religiously rotate them every 5k.

How old are the shocks?

Im not sure exactly, but no more than a couple years and it was all on road driving.

I'm willing to bet previous owner rotated tires before selling to you and the cupping was actually caused by front alignment and never being rotated.

I had KO2s on my wife's 5th gen and missed a rotation -- went like 10k on them. Once the cupping started I couldn't get it to even out, although it got a little better. They became loud as crap though. Basically, it may get a little better when on the back, but the damage was probably already done.

sounds like the previous owner rotated

the cupped tires from the front to the back and the back to the front before you bought it. And the cupping was a result of the previous owners aged suspension before you bought the 5100 replacements.

Do you think you can you buy 2 tires and be done with it for a while until all the tires need to be replaced?
