Get some sheet metal and bend it up yourself. I highly doubt you're going to beat the 30 dollar mark though unless you have the tools necessary to make it.

I prefer making my own stuff versus buying it if I can help it. There are some parts though that are better designed by someone who has experience.

That is very true.
Ha! I found one for $20.
I feel like I'd cut myself with sheet metal.
 
One caveat with that shorter antenna mount is that you'll close your hatch on your antenna when you forget to move it aside.
My solution was to move this mount Door Jamb CB Antenna Mount | Right Channel Radios above the taillight, with some modification to the mount. Others have built their own or bought the 'Drifter' antenna mount, which seems an excellent solution to mashed antenna syndrome, mounted to the location you have pictured but extends out of the way of the hatch.

It's pretty easy to work with once you get the hang of it.

If you were to make it I'd say 3/16" would do the trick and you could make it out of 12x12".
 
I keep a lot of aluminum mill stock in my shop, for things just like this bracket. It is easy to work with and if desired it can be polished to a very high luster. You can buy aluminum stock at just about any real hardware outlet. all thicknesses and shapes.

Stainless steel would be much better for that.
 
Ever considered getting a magnetic steel wip antenna and call it a day. I've been running a Wilson 1000 and its bee a fantastic and the signal pickup is a lot better I felt than a Firestick

I have a supply outlet for the stainless, also. It is a place that gets leftover material from all of the aircraft manufacturing companies in our area. However not everyone has access to such stuff. At least the aluminum is malleable enough to make what one needs easily.

That's an Outdoor Logic mount, they don't make them anymore, but I believe you can still get the similar Drifter mount. Can't remember who makes them now, maybe mstudt. Search t4r, it's around here somewhere. Nice because they move the antenna out of the way of the hatch.

[MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] made some mounts not too long ago but I am not sure if there are any left.

I have two of those mounts but the ham will be going in so another antenna is needed.

In reality it's a really simple mount. A 4.5" grinder, vise, drill, and a tiny bit of cold rolled steel is all you would need. A welder would be nice to reinforce the bend too. That drifter mount is the first thing I ever welded when MStudt shipped me mine lol. Looked like dripping turd on metal but it holds.

Not sure how it'd be relevant to you, but there above the right taillight:

Also, the first post showed the coax cable being routed out the back hatch. If it's going to be near the taillights route it behind the panels and out one of the taillight grommets. There's enough gap in places between taillight housing and the body or you could even notch out the housing if needed.

Where-ish in Missouri?
 
With the rear tail light bracket mounts, 3 or 4 ' fire stick antennas? What parts are needed to complete the antenna? They easy to tune?
 
Let's bring this thread back. I'm looking to get a CB for my 2000 and it looks like there aren't many choices when it comes to mounts for them? What's out there?
