CB Help

Hey guys. I'm looking at putting a small CB radio in my 2000 4 runner. I don't like the handheld kind, I prefer the older style with the box and mike. I want it mostly for camping trips, some off roading, and for friends on road trips. Nothing special. I only know of one good brand and thats Cobra, but they are usually more than I care to spend. I did find this midland one

Is this a good brand and a decent basic radio?

Second, what are the typical locations to mount this? Also, any direction or link to wiring directions is helpful.

I forgot to add that I do know the antenna is the most important part and I will hopefully spend my money there. Anyone?

I would say its fine. I've put in a few CBs at my shop and none of them have been cobra, and they all seemed to work fine. As far as the antenna, go by a truck stop and see what they have. I put one in for a guy about 2 weeks ago and he picked up an antenna from a truck stop that wasn't a big goofy long rod like you see a lot. It basically looked like one of those small cell phone antennas on cars that mounted with 2 sided tape to the glass.

ive got a really nice cobra in mine...but my dad is a truck driver...so he racked up enough rewards points @ Pilot to get it for free...i mounted mine to the outside of my glove box...so it is outt my way...and if someone big is in the passenger seat...they can slide the seat back...the mic hangs off the mirror...pick up an external speaker too...they just plug into the back on the radio...antennas come in all shapes and sizes...mine is the size of the radio antenna...but black...mounted in the same location on the drivers side...as far as wiring...i had the guys at Best Buy do it when they did my stereo...im not too good with that kinda stuff...ill try and get some pics of where i mounted my CB...in case its not clear...

yeah man pics of your set up is always appreciated. I have looked and looked for some pics fo how guys have put their CB's in their rigs and IF I can find any pics, it of the antenna mount and thats it.
