I wired up my CB today with a PA and 3' firestik. After about 4 hours to install it, I accidentally keyed the mic while the antenna was in my trunk. I haven't SWR'd it yet so I don't know if i blew the finals and it's hard to hear anyone on CB because it's philly and I'm dead center of the city. Let's pray for the best when my SWR meter comes.
Anyway, here is the install. It's a midland compact unit. I had to cut out the bottom of the pocket thing and shove the CB in there and affix it with double stick interlocking tape (heavy duty velcro)
Parts list:
Midland CB-1 - 50 - http://www.amazon.com/Midland-CB-1-...F8&qid=1396322053&sr=8-1&keywords=midland+cb1
3' Firestik - 18 - http://www.amazon.com/Firestik-FS-3...F8&qid=1396322082&sr=8-1&keywords=firestik+3'
Comet rs720 mount - 32 shipped from cheapham.com http://www.cheapham.com/products/Comet-RS%2d720-Lip-Mount.html
Firestik antenna stud (I want to say k4 or something like that, basic study with pl259 connector on bottom, no ground needed) - 8 http://www.amazon.com/FireStik-K-4A...6322134&sr=8-1&keywords=firestik+antenna+stud
Firestik antenna quick disconnect - 8 http://www.amazon.com/FireStik-K-1A...396322154&sr=8-1&keywords=firestik+disconnect
FIrestik heavy duty antenna spring - 10 http://www.amazon.com/Firestik-SS-3...ds=firestik+heavy+duty+stainless+steel+spring
18' coax cable (was JUST long enough, make sure no loops or weird bundles when you run it) - 9 http://www.amazon.com/RG-58A-Coaxia...e=UTF8&qid=1396322182&sr=8-1&keywords=cb+coax
Mic clip mount thing - 3 (I got a black plastic one) http://www.amazon.com/Accessories-U...F8&qid=1396322200&sr=8-6&keywords=mic+clip+cb
PA speaker - 7 http://www.amazon.com/PSP8-Weather-...TF8&qid=1396322221&sr=8-1&keywords=pa+speaker
Misc wiring, fuse tap (wired to fuse box), heat shrink etc, - had laying around
I installed the PA behind my grille. I'm thinking of making a mic stand out of some spare angle and double stick taping it in the space next to the CB and having the mic sit right above it.
