So who's got CBs in their rigs?

I was thinking of getting a CB like the Cobra 75 WX ST as seen in this guys Jeep. I like the idea of not having a big box sticking out from under the dash and I can stow it away when not in use. Buttons are on the mike--no looking down to fumble with switches.

Since I won't be using it all the time, a magnetic antenna attached to the roof separated by a thin plastic sheet seems ideal. Any good antennas that will still get the nod from the chief financial officer (aka: wife)?

I recommend purchasing all your gear from ALF Enterprises. They are top notch and pretty cheap!

Well, I bought the 75 the other day and this upcoming weekend will be when I plan on installing it. Problem now is where to mount the antenna on an '04:

*If I do it center of the roof with either a 2 or 3 ft off a magnet mount and spring, I will constantly hit the roof of the parking garage at work.

*I can mount it off the front hood/bumper with a bracket where a regular antenna would go, but I hate to break up the clean lines of the front end.

*I'd like to mount it somewhere off the side of the tailgate opening with a bracket and keep about half the antenna below the roofline, but I haven't seen anything that looks like it would work right. If you check out the area near the lip, there's a ridge running down the middle which makes flat bracket use impossible. I'm also concerned about loss of signal to the front.
I can probably put the majority of a 2 ft up, but I'd be worried about clearance on a 3.

*Final option would be to use the mirrors. I could do a dual-wihp since I'd be lacking a ground off the plastic housing and have no ground plane. I have no clue how to get the antennas attached there or how to properly route the wires without a lot of hard work.


So, do any of you guys have any suggestions? I'm open to ideas.

They make a nice tail light mount that'll put the antenna to the side of the rear lift gate... Something like this:
