CB Wiring

Got an old CB i've been using for a while now. Let it sit for a while and didn't work when I plugged it in. I'm using a cigarette lighter adapter to connect it to power, but now it wont even switch on. Is there anywhere else I could connect it INSIDE the truck without having to go to the fuse box under the hood?

How about the fuse panel behind the drivers kick panel ??

plug it into the lighter and turn the key to acc. should work then

Did you try anything else in the cig light socket to make sure that still works?

Welp if your CB is inop you may not see a difference no matter where you find power. Usually in the plug going into the 12v lighter socket has a removable end where inside you'll find a fuse from 1969. You may need to change it. Also plug something else in there to see if it still has power! If you'd like to have power from another source what I'd do is get a test light and probe wires from the steering column until I found one that is switchable with the key so that I wouldn't kill my battery. What I have in my ride is power right from the battery because I have a CB that pulls too much current for the tiny wires under the dash. Good luck

Well I checked the fuse for the cig lighter and it was blown. Replaced it and tried again. Didn't even have the radio on. Just plugged it in and the fuse blew again. :redbrick: THe CB's really old. I think it needs retiring.

If you're in the market for a good cheap CB I like the MIDLAND MODEL 77-118. You can find them on ebay for under 20 bones with weather and the channels can be switched from the mic which sells itself. The antenna can make or literally break a CB. Stop by a CB shop and get the SWR's adjusted so your radio can perform to it's potential.

Radios should never be ran off the cig lighter. Do it right and run wires straight from your battery. Your radio will perform better and have less noise from the vehicle. Make sure to install an in line fuse as well. Besides my CB (14g), I use 12g wire for all my radios.
