CBI Bumper?

four flusher

New member
I'm planning on added a CBI rear bumper. I'm wondering about the swing out tire carrier. Seems like I'm always opening the back, how much hassle is it to be swinging it out all the time, is adding a tire mount on a rack a good option?
Height wise I'd need something low profile so I'd still fit it the garage

thoughts?

Are you planning on increasing tire size?

If you are, then its probably a good idea. Its not that big a deal to get used to...

If not, then I wouldn't, as the spare will still fit in the stock location.

If you are still on the fence, keep in mind that CBI also makes a folding tire carrier for the back that you can throw on there for trips and take off when you are around town.

Mine is super easy to open (considering it's holding a hi-lift and 33" spare) as I just make sure to add some good grease to it and make sure to keep it lubed up.

I have a pup and she is always in and out of the back - it's not a big deal.

you don't even notice it after a little while. I have never been a fan of putting the spare on the roof for several reasons.

avg 33" wheel 80+lbs, do you really want to lift it up and down?
Already top heavy why add more weight. (yes I know that I am running a roof basket but I don't wheel with it loaded)

I have had my swing away on for almost 3 years and doesnt bother me. I also think it depends on the latch though and how easy it is to work.
