cd changer

Hi folks;
I had a corvette that I put a pioneer 12 cd changer in it. Just traded it in for 2004 4runner. I am wondering if I can put the 12 cd changer in the 4runner. If so, is there some special wiring harness or adapter that i need to consider? Is there a place that talks about such installation? On the corvette, i just had to connect the cable to another one near the passenger seat. Is it gonna be that easy in the 4runner, I hope I dont need to take the current in-dash radio system to hook up the cable behind it.

What stereo do you have in your 4runner? The basic system or the JBL?

What model is your Pioneer CD changer & is it an FM modulation type?

I'm guessing that you will probably need some adapter or FM modulator for your Pioneer to work.

I have the JBL system
poineer cd changer cdx-m2016 and it NOT an FM modulation type

If you do not have the NAV unit then yes! You can install a factory CD changer. I just happen to have a extra CD changer bracket for the stock changer so it can mount in the center console. If interested let me know, I'll sell it to you cheap but you will have to cover shipping. You will also have to pick up the Toyota Y-adapter.

hey thanx for the reply. I dont have the nav system. The console is empty downward. However my plan was to install it somewhere in the trunk just like how i had it in the corvette. So, i guess i do need a y adapter. How about the installation, do i have to take the jbl system out and hook up the wires behind it, or does the wiring go somewhere else like under the seat or something. I might get the mount from u and i will cover the shipping, but i really dont like to have the changer ahead of ny face. So, you mentioned a factory cd changer, i have a pioneer 12 cd changer thu that i got for my previous corvette, would that still work with the y adapter.

concerning the cd changer

i was also wondering, me & my wife just bought ourselves a 2004 4Runner SR5 (traded in our old 97). now we were told that it had a cd changer but it didn't. The sales rep though was able to get us a external changer, said that to actually swap it out for the in dash is way too expensive and his manager said "thats not the way we work"

so now we have a pioneer CDX FM687 changer, it's using the FM frequencies but because the stations that it uses are actually used stations we get a lot of "fighting" between the stations and the changer for sound. is there any way we can hook it up directly to the stock radio, the manual indicates the radio HAS changer controls.

i thought the stock was a pioneer but it doesn't say anywhere but Toyota and what looks like a model #16852 on the front. it might be JBL but without actually taking the radio out to look i have no clue. i've been scouring the net but have come up empty on info

You'll probably need an adapter to get it to work. Blitzsafe and a couple other companies make such adapters. They are model specific, so you'll have to find out if your particular changer will work with the stereo you have now.
