I have a 2004 4Runner SR5 200k miles . Three days before my birthday and emissions test the CEL, VSC,TRAC lights came on. Went to auto parts store for diagnostics and pulled codes C1201- ECM and P0430 CAT . Had to get the factory recalls done soooo I took the truck to the Dealer. Dealer reported a bad Cat bank 2 $971.00!!!
I said no way I will replace myself. Checked this forum all threads point to replace O2 sensor or Zero point Calibration. I replaced O2 sensor did hard reset, lights off. drove 60 miles passed emissions test! thirty miles or so later Lights back on truck stalls under braking.I drove another 60 or so miles with one foot on gas one foot on brake. The lights went off but the truck still stalling. Took into independent Toyota only shop after two days the verdict was a bad Torque Converter. Needs trans $2000.Not good. After another week at shop they found good used trans and after they test drove said the ECM is bad making the Trans not shift out of Overdrive. Now I am waiting on a ECM $$$? replacement or re program.Me not happy. Any help or ideas on this problem? This truck has been GTO since i purchased it with 50,000 miles. Thanks in advance.
