cell phone interference-filter?

Hey guys.

I am running the Infinity BassLink as my subwoofer out back.

I pick up what I call "cell phone interference" only on the Bass Link unit.

The sound is similar to what you might hear when you are typing on your computer with your speakers on and your cell phone rings.

You know how you can hear some interference through your computer speakers? That is what I hear through the Bass Link.

It is very intermittent but annoying. Should I go for another ground perhaps?

1 year update...

the cell phone interference occurs less and less lately- but for example if my cell phone rings I pick up some related noise through the Bass Link.

Also I am hoping to mount my Bass Link horizontally-but discovering that I lack the 4 horizontal brackets and other 2 threaded rods to do so... (I bought the Bass Link used so I guess I got what I paid for in that respect)

Does anyone have extra pieces/parts from their Infinity Bass Link to sell or send me? I probably have some 3rd gen Runner parts to give or trade with you depending on your needs as well.

i had bad issues with what they call "gsm buzz" with my computer a while back... ferrite cores on the wires help if you can do that or anti-static bags will shield it too (at the expense of cell phone signal depending on where it goes). it doesnt happen when you are connected to a 3g network with a 3g phone if that is any help.

sorry, i dont know anything about the bass link specifically though but hopefully that might help a little bit

Update FEB 2011

This type of Radio Frequency Interference is covered in the FEB2011 issue of Popular Mechanics-pages 102-104. "DIY TECH"

They mention specifically using 'ferrite beads' so it appears t4rain you were onto something there a year back.

I'll be checking with my local Radio Shack to try to find some of these ferrite beads and wrap them around my signal input wire to the Basslink- or it mentions it could be necessary on the speaker wiring instead.

Found the ferrite cores at Radio Shack

Radio Shack part number 273-0069-package of 2 sold for $2.99

Ferrite magnets sold as a "Snap Choke Core".

They are easy to unsnap and fit nicely over each of my RCA cable inputs, if this fails to work then I will experiment further trying one or both of them on my power input. And go from there.

Thanks again t4rain for your input.
