center differential won't disengage

Hi! back with a new issue.

Mine is 04 v8 limited, so it's alltime all wheel drive. I have no difficulty lock the center differential, but after driving it for about ten or twenty minutes, it won't disengage. but when i try engage and disengage before i move the car, there is no problem at all. it just happens when i drive the car for a while.

any idea?

so you're stuck in it now? Try putting the truck in "N", crawl under it and knock the actuator a couple of times. They tend to get stuck when they're this old.

Thanks. I can get it disengaged in a way that might cause damages. after i push the button to disengage, the light keeps blinking, then I push the gear to D and drive the car in a very low speed. after about 10 or 20 meters, i feel a shake from under the car and hear a "peng", then it is disengaged.

I'm pretty sure the manual and card in visor say to engage/disengage it while moving at a constant speed while going straight.

Sounds like you were doing some fairly tight turning while driving and got it bound up a bit. Sweeping turns are no problem but best to avoid tight ones.

Don't let the experience scare you out of exercising the diff lock actuator while driving, though. Just Engage/disengage while going straight. You don't have to drive around for any length of time.
