If you guys are still accepting people to go, i'd like to tag along. I'm set for April 30th if that date holds. I've done the short Peter Mills run once and have been wanting to make it back out. Currently located in Chantilly.

Heck yeah! Come on out!!!!

As of now I am game for all three outings depending on how my truck does on the 26th run. I am planning to head up to that area when I leave class Friday night and stay at a hotel within 30 minutes of the meetup point. I would not be a good lead for this since I have yet to run these trails. Looking forward to getting out and meeting some people. Assuming once we figure out a leader for the 26th run we will all exchange information to make things a little easier. I'll be steady checking on here to keep up with the updates.

EDIT: I will also be bringing my camera and my go pro to take some pictures of the trip. I also assume everyone is planning to camp?

I don't need a shower for two days haha did it for 7 months overseas so think I will survive. Was just going to do a hotel since I don't know anything in the area and will be arriving the night before (the 25th). It's about a 2.5 hour drive for me hence the main reason for coming up the night before, that way I know I won't be in a time crunch.

Stranger here. The 26th I'm gonna try to come out Saturday after work. The weekends in April I will more then likely only make one weekend a full one and come out after work. The next

I'm in Arlington and could caravan out with you for that weekend. Maybe get some others together and meetup in NoVA somewhere and go down. :thumb:

Update update update

Okay so it looks like we have 3 dates forming. March 26th, April 9th and April 30th. It loks like we will be doing Flagpole and PMR on those trips.
MountainClimber78 will lead the group on the 26th to Flagpole. start contacting him if you want to go on March 26th. There is rumor it is supposed to rain the weekend so keep that in mind. I know we have only done flagpole and Mountainclimber comes from VaBeach everytime, so if you think a day trip is not doable it totally is.

I GHARP57 will be going on the 9th and the 30th most likely, once we get a little closer we can coordinate meeting up.

I know the most usual thing we do is meet up at 1010 West Market St. Harrisonburg, Va. Meet up time is always 1100 with rollout at 1115-20 go do Flagpole then get off the mountain and head to PMR

26th Run

Alright so here's the plan for the 26th:
We will meet up at the WAWA at holland and independence for the VB crowd at 0600, on the road at 0630. I've got some friends of mine from work that will be joining us, right now it's a Jeep and a heavily modified Taco. From there we will just meet up at the shell station in H-burg and depart from there at 11.

For peters Mill and Taskers Gap. The creekside campground is full that weekend but there are three Forrest service campgrounds in the area. Problem is they are first come, first served, so we need to get up there at a reasonable time. Twitch, if you want to meet us up there I'll hold some space in my spot for you and text you to let you know where we end up. We will also need permits but they are cheap and we can get them on the way into the campground.

CBs are encouraged but not necessary. PM me with any questions. I'll check back here regularly also.

Sounds like a plan to me. I'm good to meet up anywhere if you already have somewhere in mind. We can work out the details once we get a little closer to the date.

MountainClimber78 I'm down. I'll shoot up after work we close @3 so I should get out soon. Also do we have a solid date for April because I want to ask for the time off now.

George Washington & Jefferson National Forests - Passes & Permits

I'm interested in coming along. It'll be a good shake down run for longer trips planned over summer. I've got some recovery gear, two small dogs and an air mattress for the back. Fire roads are more my speed, haven't been anywhere decent around here, so I'm technically a novice! Looking forward to it.

I can't make the date but I have a question. How do you know what camping is reserved, and what isn't? I am planning on going another day with friends in the same vehicle, but aren't there camp spots everywhere? Or do I need to do a lot more research on where I can and cannot camp? lol

Creek side campground is a private campground that takes reservations on line and you can look at the spot reservations for the dates you want. The FS sites are first come, first served so the earlier you get there the better. Now for flagpole there are pullouts along the route where people have camped but for our group we have always continued on to Peters Mill.
