changed Valve cover gaskets-smell burning occasionally-suggestions

Like post says, changed spark plug housing seals CAM SEALS + PACKING GREASE

I would imagine it is the Cam seals but I really dont know, I smell a burning that does not smell like oil/antifreeze. Car does not appear to be leaking oil, but was leaking pretty freaking bad before i did it

smoked when i first started it but that has gone away, this smell is periodic and not ongoing. Please help

about 300 miles driving since this

Did you torque the valve gasket covers correctly?

It may just be the residual oil very, very slowly dripping onto the exhaust. Mine took over 6 months to finally stop the burning smell, even after 'cleaning' it as well as i could. Put a small mirror to peer back there at the cam seals just in case. Luck! :cowboy:

What valve cover gaskets did you use? I replaced mine with ebay gaskets and they leaked. Replaced the ebay gaskets with Felpro and all is good for a about a year now.

no because I broke 2/3 trying to do this and were able to pull them off luckily. It does not appear to be leaking however

If you haven't already, clean off the heads with a rag so you can see the seam of the gasket all the way around the head and valve covers. Drive it for a day or two and check back. If you see fresh, wet oil it's still leaking.
