Changed Wiring Harnesses?

At one time I drove a '90 4Runner, and was running a JVC Kameleon Head Unit that I had prfessionally installed. I recently purchased a choice 99 Limited 4Runner, and I am trying to transfer the deck over. The harness doesn't seem to fit. Did Toyota change their harness between 90 and 99? And if so, what would be the best item to buy? I called up Circiut City to ask them, and the dude told me to throw away my old harness, and that my best option was to buy a JVC to Universal Harness, and then a Universal to Toyota Harness. Is all of that really necessary, especially if I already have that harness for the 90? Thanks.

NEVER CALL CIRCUIT CITY. those lame ass dont know shit about cars. just go to your local stereo shop and they will get you the right one. it should only be one harness that goes from the stock harness to the new HU harness. it might come in 2 pieces if im correct.

i think this is what you need. MAD TW-43G / TWH-950

there are 2 harnesses dont pay more then like 5-10 bucks. other then that your getting ripped off.

I cut a few of the wires on the factory toyota harness, and reattached them straight across to the JVC harness. It works great, but besides possible splicing problems, are there any other forseeable problems in the future with this?
