Changes coming for Entune

I actually like having the weather app on Entune. It’s useful in the radar view when traveling near severe weather.

we live in western NY and we dont have severe weather in Western NY. All we get is lake effect snow and that only happens from buffalo and southward.Still the radar is kind weak in my opinion.

I can’t stand the stupid message it pops up every time I start the car. Also... The connectivity between the on-board Pandora app to the Pandora servers via my cell was always buggy thru Entune. I often had to shutoff/restart at traffic lights to bootstrap a new working connection.

so... is this just for the newer units? in have a 2017 and I have received no notification, nor does entune online list anything about services going away.

Android Auto coming to Entune. Supposedly Toyota will make an announcement this October.

"....................Toyota might not like that drivers are effectively overriding its software, but it might not have much choice if it wants to stay fiercely competitive with Honda, VW and other companies that embraced smartphone connectivity a long time ago."

It's unfortunate, they don't (or being capricious) get it. Entune will be used by the vast minority. Who is going to choose to use Toyota's interface vs. a person's smartphone (Apple/Android) interface?

I'm looking to get an Android H.U. myself. My phone is with me 99% of the time, having familiar software in my car/truck/whatever would be great. Some drawbacks into getting one of these is sound quality (subjective) and boot up time. Some units can take up to 45 seconds to boot up. Yikes. Whatever, this is another subject.............

All the messaging is annoying PLEASE dont ask me again. In my opinion the whole thing is a waste of space. i could do just as much or more with an auxiliary jack. Hook up is questionable and if it does hook up there is a tether error. So lately pandora has been starting on my phone and on the radio at the same time...I just quick swipe the phone off. i would like to see a whole revamping of the system. Im sure they could have done a better job than they did with this head unit. Pretty sad attempt..

download the entune app and see if any of the features are useful to you

i use the destination search, i can pre-search addresses and then they sync to the vehicle

So, from the above posts it sounds like I should not bother to activate the Entune in the new 4Runner?

I uninstalled the app from my phone. As Pandora is the only thing I used I just connect it now via Bluetooth. At least now the app isn't using my phone battery for nothing.

Lately I have been perusing Crutchfield and looking over the head units with wireless Android. Trying to decide just what I want without paying for what I will never use such as navigation (Google maps and Waze are my preferred apps), DVD/CD (never had a desire to watch anything and use USB for mpe/FLAC), etc. WHile there is no one perfect head unit I think I will get close.

Have you thought about getting an Android powered head unit? As most know and acknowledge, entune is a cruel joke. I'm looking for an alternative HU for my 05. I currently have an OEM NAV, so yeah, I'm in the stone age. With the aforementioned HU, depending if you have an android phone, you can beam pretty much anything onto the screen, including Google maps, waze, etc).

I've been looking at crutchfield as well, but there aren't many options, at least for me. I WANT a volume/tune knob, but the aftermarket seems to be shy away from that. Very annoying. I will give CF this: their customer service is second to none, but you will pay for it.

Entune sucks

I updated my Entune today and lost Pandora. Pandora was the only app I used every single day. Now I get to take my eyes off the road to play Pandora via bluetooth....thanks a lot Toyota

I don’t think this was Toyota’s doing. I got the email too, and it stated that it would not be supported by “3RD PARTY” apps. Tells me this was Pandora’s doing, which was just purchased by SiriusXM. Just a bit of food for thought. I did a bit of research.

Entune Registration or Account Setup

Sorry if I'm crashing here, but has anyone overcome trouble creating an Entune account? I get the message, "Please ensure you have entered the VIN correctly and your vehicle is Entune or Enform App Suite capable."

I have a 2019 TRDOR with Premium Audio, Navigation, and the Entune App Suite. I am registered at toyota.com/owners, but that seems to be separate from Entune. I'm attempting to do this with the vehicle off. I have not downloaded the Entune App Suite, just the Entune App.

I am entering my VIN correctly. I have this problem on PC and iPhone - unable to create account altogether. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Did you ever figure this out? I just got a 2021 and I am having the same problem. Ugh. Thanks!

I don't think the Entune App is supported any more. I am using the Toyota app--which doesn't seem to do much. HU updates seem to be OTA now but I don't see a way to add apps manually. I have had sketchy success w/Alexa and have had no luck with Android Auto (which works fine in another car). Just got my ride Wed. night so I haven't spent too much time on this but I was a bit surprised that the stereo usage wasn't a bit smoother.

Just for closure, in case anyone has similar issues with Android, I bought a 3' Anker USB cord and Android Auto works flawless. Alexa continues to be glitchy AF.
