Charcoal canister delete

So, hypothetically speaking now, say someone decided they wanted to delete their charcoal canister. For, um, reasons and stuff. Could this hypothetical person just cap the hardline coming out of the fuel tank bracket and be done with it? Or does the fuel tank need that line to vent fuel vapor?

I got rid of mine on the veezee, and added a $30 dorman one way check valve to the line. Not sure if you can just close it off.
