I took my Runner to Charlottetown Toyota to get them to figure out a lack of power / bogging issue, I knew it wasn't a problem with fuel or ignition cuz I replaced pretty much every part in the fuel and ignition systems.

The guy had it in there for about 10 min and told me he scanned the codes and the only one that showed up was a bad 02 sensor. I told him I already knew that and it wasn't the problem cuz it ran fine before with the bad sensor. Then he told me he wouldn't look into it further until I replaced it! To top that off, they charged me a full hour of labour to check the codes and tell me something I already knew when it only took him 10 minutes!!

In the end I took the catalytic converter off and found that it was clogged, and that was the problem.

Never again will I take my Runner to the dealer!!

I hate to say it my friend but it sounds like they did just what you knew they would do. You seem pretty skilled based on what you've done already and the fact that you figured it out in the end on your own. I'll bet in the back of your mind while you were driving your Runner there you were saying "this is gonna be some BS and they won't fix it"

Basically you paid about $150 to remind yourself why you bought all those tools and usually do the work to your own rig.

Well, this is somewhat true lol. I do usually do all the work to my rigs, but at the time I was so busy with work and other stuff that I didn't really have much time to mess around with it and try to figure it out. So, I figured I'd take it over to the dealer on my break (which was just up the road) to see if they could just tell me the problem and save me the hassle. But, obviously this became more of a hassle and I ended up wasting close to $100 lol. Oh well, another lesson learned!
