chasis damage

Hey guys I wish I had a pic to show you but been having problems with this feature.



I recently bought a used 06 4r. It has a squeek in the chasis. Upon further inspection I noticed that a mounting point in front of rear axle that holds some type of torsion bar is dented or smashed in. This is causing the bushing to rub againest the metal. I'm gonna be up the dealers but about this especially since the car was certified.

Have you guys had problems with this before and should I be worried about it?

Sounds like you have a bent rear lower control arm. The owners before you must have landed it on something offroad perhaps.

Its a cheap part I assume as its just a piece of hollow metal.

Sounds like its just the mounting bracket, not the actual control arm. Its not uncommon for those to get a little bent during rough offroading, both of mine are pretty beat up. Not usually a big deal, I think you are just unlucky that it causes a squeaking. You could give it a spray with wd40 are see if the noise goes away temporarily.

Thanks Techno, thats exactly what it is, you say don't worry about it huh? All in all the truck is immaculate for 55k. I am a proud 4r owner. I had an 01 Xterra before hand that was awesome, took it everywhere. It had 122k on at trade-in. After years of taking two whitewater canoes to the river via dirt road or pig trail took its toll on the suspension. I also needed more power which is why I love having a V8 now. Hopefully I will get more miles out of this one. Thanks for all your help. I'm sure I'll have more Q soon.

If you can post a pic so we can all check it out, we'll be in a better position to say whether or not it's worth going back to the dealer to get it fixed. I really doubt it's a problem other than slightly annoying.

Since your ride shows evidence of moderate offroading, you might consider crawling underneath for 10 mins to have a close look for any other signs of damage, just for your peace of mind.
