Cheap 5vz gray supercharger

Morning everyone, I was cruising around on Craigslist and a supercharger popped up last night. Guy's only asking $1400, which is the cheapest supercharger I've ever seen. I'm not in a spot to pick it up because I've got 285k on my truck and I don't think it'd like being under boost. Figured I'd pass it along. https://denver.craigslist.org/pts/6075780779.html

I'll actually be in Denver next week to visit a friend and sent this to him. Is there any way to verify the blower is in good shape from a simple inspection?

For example, is it possible to have bad snout bearings but they rotate smoothly by hand? This being the older design I've read its more expensive/difficult to rebuild.

It's not a bad price, but not the best I've seen. I've seen the gray S/C's go for as low as $700.

Just a few notes on this:

1. It has the static tensioner. It is known to have belt slippage issues, which basically robs all power gained by the charger. Costs around $275 from Magnussen for the dynamic tensioner (don't buy from Toyota, too expensive!)

2. The rebuilds are expensive, if needed. There's little way to tell if it needs rebuilding until you have it running on a vehicle. Starts at $500 or so unless you have a press and are very mechanically inclined.

So you are looking at more like $1675-$2175, potentially. Still cheaper than new though, if looking to save there. New ones are $3000.

Haha, I bought mine with it already installed, it's much cheaper to buy a 4Runner with a supercharger on it then to add one later on!
