Cheap fuel injectors... Good buy?

I need some a new fuel injector, and I'd just assume replace all 4 and call it done with 4 new injectors, plugs, wires and cap. I found these 'new, old stock' ones for $25 each... Do these seem too good to be true?

Why do you need new injectors? Go to this link and scroll down to the section on injectors. Just send yours out and they'll come back better than new (cleaned and balanced); assuming of curse that you can live without driving for a few days.

One issue with 22RE injectors is there are (if I recall correctly) 4 different plug configurations in the 4Runners from 1985 though 1989.

One of my injectors is clogged, leaving cyl 1 completely dead (at least that's what I think the problem is). My compression is good, and I have new plugs, wires and a new distributer cap.

If I can get 4 brand new plugs for the same price as having mine rebuilt, why not go for the new ones? I've never heard anything about different connectors though...

Here is a link showing the 4 different types of stock 22RE injectors. It's not the best description I've seen but it was the one that I found first.

For example, 1988 and 1989 injectors are not interchangable. I'm sure if they say they are for your year that they will fit. I was just pointing out that there are differences across the Gen1 years.

The reason for my suggestion is that I thought it would be better to have 4 cleaned and tested injectors which have been balanced than something off the shelf which may or may not be in the same ballpark. The injectors never wear out so it's not like a part that you would eventually have to change anyway. Many of the engine builders like LCEngineering and DOA Racing supply balanced (used) injectors with their engines and always want you to sent your cores back to them (which they then have cleaned and balanced for the next customer). This I know from my own experience.

Well it turns out that the website only has one injector available, so I'm going the route of having them cleaned and balanced. Is there anything I need to know before I send them in?

Yes, and this is very important.....you can't drive your 4Runner while they're gone.

So I saved the spacers, and I see how they need to go back on. Apart from replacing the gasket between the intake manifold and the intake chamber, will I need to replace anything else? Does anything special need to be done upon reassembly? I am aware that the rubber seals on the injectors need to be replaced, will the cleaned injectors from RC come with new seals?

How did you finally get that manifold off? Dynamite? I know I'm interested. Some of us tried to help you with that.

I spent about a week checking once or twice a day on it, spraying it with WD40 and prying at it. Once I got it just loose enough to get a screwdriver in between and pry it out.

Now it's all about getting it back in, and hoping that the fuel injector is actually the problem... After new plugs, wires and distributer cap, and checking the compression, I'm not sure if anything else is left.

Can't help you there. Give me them a call and ask. I'm sure they can provide new seals.

My balanced injectors were delivered with my new DOA Racing engine. I never asked Tim who he uses to do the balancing, could have been RC or someone else. But I do know during our conversation that they weren't new and that they were sent out for cleaning and balancing to someone. I sent my cores back to DOA after the engine install (which I did with the help of a mechanic friend in his shop).
