Was it the "Maint?" If it was, then it was just a reminder to change your oil. That is the maintenance light. Look in your manual and you'll be able to read how to turn it off. It's very simple. If it's the check engine light, then it may be something else.

oh i see it might be the maintence light, anyways i will check that out later, is there any way to check and diagnos the car, at home with out the computer? i remember my jeep you were able to turn the key three times and would tell you what was wrong?

What you have to do is turn the key to "on" (accessories) Then press/hold the trip reset button for 5 seconds. THe maintaince ligt will flash, that will reset it. The shop i took my 4runner to didnt reset it a few years back and i was on my way out of town so i called them and they told me how to reset it. You can also do a search and you can find it as well

Set the meter to display the odometer first. Hold down the toggle switch and turn the key to ON, and keep switch depressed until the very end. You'll see the Maintenance light blink a couple times and the odomter will turn into a series of dashes. The dashes will then flash and disappear one by one. When all of the dashes have disappeared, you can let go of the toggle. Also, you do not need to start the engine for this procedure.
