Nah, those 22REs will run fine even when they're missing. What he needs is to get rid of that ADD front diff, that's his problem.

The ADD diff is locked in the On position and I kept it for the extra fluid capacity. Truck has Warn hubs on it, bought it that way. Originally had the Auto-hubs.

The motor on the hoist is the new motor, the one on the barrel (its sturdy, I swear) is the old one. The people who puller the donor motor were not careful and cut every/wire hose. So I stripped down the old motor once it was out and pulled the harness off of it.

My clutch and flywheel were shot. I guess I need to learn how to drive.

More progress this week.

Ordering parts today .. Exhaust manifold and collector gasket, plenum gasket, thermostat, rear main seal, fuel and oil filter, clutch, flywheel, cap, rotor ( have good plug wires) Alt and fan belt

Timing Chains good

Anything else I should order? Motor had 68k on it.

Now would be a good time to degrease the heck out of the engine and replace your oil and water pump. They are cheap and now is the easiest time to replace those parts. I would order a whole gasket kit from engnbldr.com and get your oil and water pump from them. Pull the TC cover and replace that gasket as well. You have a mess built up on the front of that engine and I would be concerned about where it's coming from unless you like to have engine fires at gas stations

That mess is the old motor, the valve cover gasket was leaking bad. New one is really clean. I dont have time to order anything, plan is to have the motor in by the weekend.

Ill look into the oil and water pump. Im already over budget... Thanks for the tip!

:reddance: Getting there..

Got my wiring harness spliced together where the original wires were dry rotted.

Changed rear main

Then I flipped it on its back to pull the pan and this is what came out. :toilet:

Cylinders all looked good, and there were bits of plastic on it and a different color sealant on the front part of the pan... Hmm.

So we pulled the intake and the valve cover and to check the timing chain... and find a brand new timing chain.. score. So the old one exploded and they never drained the pan after the change.... :rant: huh.

Last night I swapped out all the frost plugs.

And re installed the fuel injectors, fuel rail, wiring harness and plenum.

Tonight I have one more stuck bolt to get out, adjust the valves and change out the front main seal. Should go back together pretty quickly after that.

Weekend progress...

Crank bolt was a PITA. Lots of heat and the impact finally broke it loose. Then pulled it off.

And changed the front main.

Front back together

Clutch n such.

And started dropping it in

Tranny and motor mounts are in... almost done.

Unrelated to my motor swap.. But I did take one quick lap around the property before I left..

Still needs some tweaking and the valves are ticking pretty good. So Im gonna pull the valve cover to double chek them and hopefully do some wheelin on Sunday.

IIRC: My timing is at 8*BTDC. It's set iaw the FSM.

Mine WAS set at about 12, which was about as high as I could push it with 85 octane.
