Check engine light

Changed spark plugs and did a deck-plate mod tonight. When I got done and fired it up, I got a check engine light. Guess I'll go back and check it all out again in the morning.

Maybe you can go to a parts store and use one of their loner engine code readers. I don't know if it is possible with our Runners, but i have done it with other cars. If it works you can read the code as well as clear it.

to clear a code,

open the hood,
open the fuse block
pull th efuse called "ECU or EFI"
wait 30 sec
yes 30 sec

then put the fuse back in and start the car, the check engine light should be off but make sure you WAIT 30 sec

If you disconnected the MAF sensor or didn't use sensor safe sealant then yes it is. I just took off my neg battery terminal for the night and reconnected it and it's been fine for a few weeks now.

probably forget something, or knocked something loose during the plug install, just double check everything while you have the battery disconnected waiting for the ECU to reset.

I used Ultra Black sealant and I did remove the MAF to clean it with MAF cleaner. I'm notorious for forgetting something like a vacuum line. I think I'll start there then try and clear the code.

Well I never disconnected the battery. I just went back and rechecked everything. Didn't find a problem but when I started it up, no CE light:biggrin2: Must've fixed somethin.

My spark plugs were gapped from .050 to .060. really noticed a difference with the new plugs gapped right and the deck plate mod. Pulled out into traffic today and fried my tires off.:bugeye:
