Check engine light

A check engine light came on a couple of weeks ago, so i jumpered te1 and e1 and got an o2 sensor lean code. I did a resistence test on the thing and it didnt move, it doesnt work........Also when i pull my EFI fuse out and put it back in, it turns off, until i drive it up a hill then the light comes back on. Does this sound like a bad o2 sensor??? Or something else??? Need help ASAP!

Thanks, also does anyone have a ebrake cable from the handle to the y in the back?

ummm, you pulled the code, bad O2, you did the resistance test, bad O2. I will tell you what I would do, now I'm not a mechanic or anything, but I'd replace the O2. But I could be wrong, it may just be the O2, but I could be wrong about that too.

Why are you so reluctant to replace the sensor? Once you run the test and it fails then you have to assume it's not working unless I'm missing something.

My check engine light just came on.(92 4runner, v-6 200,000 miles runs good) I suspect that it is a bad o2 sensor. Is it possible to drive vehicle for a few days until I replace o2 sensor. Sorry I jumped in to this thread,been a long day, thanks for any info.

We had a similar problem this summer, except with the addition of cranking and no start. replaced the EFI relay and it has been wonderful for the last 6 months(sound: knocks on wood). Those relays don't seem to have an endless service life as the local dealer had them in stock, and they don't even usually stock tune up parts. You might consider replacing the relay and ohm out the circut on the O2 sensor.

Thanks for reply. I'm going to try to find the 'box' underhood where you jump the te1 and e1 terminals. i hope within a couple months to replace timing belt, idler, tensioner, water pump. I really like my 2nd gen. I was lucky and found one rust free and looks new except for rusty exhaust tip.

Have you inspected these parts and found them worn or defective? I can't imagine changing out the water pump if it is still working.

When I bought this 4runner ( Feb. '11) PO didn't have any knowledge of any maintenence history. With 200,9xx mi. I figure these things should be replaced. Seems to be slight water pump squeak in early am start-up.
