Can someone please explain to me the purpose of doing that too any vehicle, much less a 4runner? i just dont get it. No, seriously, whats the motivation? To see how small of a bump you can break your bumper on? i know on the streets where I live you could never drive it
They guy gets jollies from perverting a design. It's like S&M but for a car.
I understand it not being everyone's personal taste (its not mine either), but I've never understood all the hate. Believe it or not it does take skill to do that, both in planning and fab work. Who on this forum has made their 4runner a new frame?
This is a case of "just because you can do it doesn't mean you should". What is the value of a skill if it doesn't result in something useful. If you agree that it is pure novelty, then fine, but don't measure skill by the creation of novelties.
The problem I have with novelties, is that they don't have real value, their value is only what someone will pay to own the novelty; they can't create new value. A truck can do work, work has inherent value, like transporting goods from one place to another.
The value in a purely novel vehicle like that (in my mind at least) is the fun in making it, and the satisfaction, but once you're done, what then? Yeah, you can sell it and probably not make money off it, but help recoup a little. That said, you are absolutely fair game for comments that you have ruined the vehicle, because you have. You had fun destroying a vehicle.
And seriously, if it's posted on the internet, it's fair game. Let's not make personal attacks, but criticism should be assumed.
