Toyota apparently does not install any rear axle breather on any of their SUVs/trucks...past or present.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is a diff breather and why would you need one to got through the mud/water?

So since there is a breather for the xfer case and front diff, is there anything else other than the rear diff that should have a breather installed? I'm probably fine going through the occasional creek or mud pit, but since it's a quick and cheap mod I might have to add one to my rear diff (and anything else that requires one).

I went and looked under the hood of my 4R and only saw one breather for the front diff mounted on the side of my driver-side wheel well. I didn't see the other one mentioned in that other thread. Should they be mounted together or seperately?

Unless that video is you off-roading you need to be quiet. If it is you then rock on. Lets not hate on people trying to go off road...Thats all we have in Jacksonville, Fl...mud. It had been raining all day so it looks like a huge ass puddle but let me asure you there was a lot of mud....trust me.

And me and my friends were just f-ing around out there. We werent taking it to seriously...so take it easy... Maybe next time we will go more hard-core and get someone else to take the video. It was also raining so we couldnt get the camera outside. And the commander out there was the really nice version so it was 2WD. In fact I was surprised he took it off-road at all. We also had a Land rover Freelander and a Z71 tahoe out there. Fun day messing around...just having fun.

The freelander actuallly did very well. We each both got stuck once in some pretty deep ruts. Helped each other out pulling each other out. I was surprised how well it did...It was mostly stock except for a brushguard and better skidplate. It excelled on hill climbs and side slope. Did 37 degreesof side slope one time. nice ride.

But the ruts I got stuck in were deeper. The ones he got stuck in I made it through with ease. He re-tried the one he got stuck in and made it the 2nd time.
