I was trying to check the codes for my '87 4runner. I shorted the connector between the T and ground, even tried between the T and E1. All I get is a solid check engine light. I know there has to be codes in there as The light keeps coming on when driving. What am I doing wrong?
The reason I am checking is to help diagnose the following problem.
When starting a cold engine, it runs fine for a few mins then starts to miss badly, not stalling though. Playing with the clutch and throttle keeps me going if I am on a flat road but going up an onramp I have to pull over and wait 10 to 15 seconds. Then it runs fine until the next time it sits overnight and is cold. When this is happening , the check enginne light comes on and goes off as soon as it is running properly again.
I have a 22re with a 5 speed.
Any advise?
