Chicago/Illinois Meet (2nd Attempt)

Hey guys, our first attempt at a meet wasn't a success, so I decided to try again. I'm open for the week of March 7-11. I was thinking maybe a fishing trip at a nice lake? Anyone game for fishing? Anyone know of a nice place to fish? BTW, I've never fished before, but it sounds like a great way to get to know one another. Anybody have any other suggestions? Trails are fine too, but I'm too wary of putting scratches on my baby. Hopefully we can plan a successful meet so that we can kick off a Chicago/Illinois 4Runner Club. All are welcome, so if anyone in the other states of the Great Lakes region are willing to drive to IL because they are die-hard 4runner owners, then more power to you! :)

It is good that You have started second attempt of organizing a meet and as for now i think every one should make a suggestions for a place of that meet and if not that, at least say which place would be best for him.
As always I'm open for meet at any date and time. As for fishing I have never done it before. Also if You want to do it I think You need permit for that. But it doesn't matter because I can always watch others doing it :D

If not that maybe You would be interested in watching some guys racing at Lake Geneva Raceway. A few people from a club I know organize every month small meet and they race. Most of them drive Subaru but there are some Mitsubishi, Civics, VW, Mazda and 2 weeks ago there was guy with a Infinity FX !!! Their next meet is on March 20.
However it is at Lake Geneva so it is about 60 miles drive from Chicago. I think there would be better chance to get more people if this meet is closer to city so I want to see what others have to say.....
I hope that this time we'll be able to finally meet.

First post...nice to stumble onto the forum.

Lake Geneva would be a haul for me (I live near Brookfield Zoo).

I dunno...might be able to talk the wife into letting me go. How about 4Runners racing...lol....

I live in St. charles. That would be a long hike for me too. Just let me know. I picked up a second job bartending in St. Charles on Thurs, Fri. and Sat. So give me a notice so I can take that day off.

Hey dog, where do you bartend at? I used to run around some of the St. Charles bars before I got married.

Fishing...you need a permit and it can be a long day if you don't catch anything. You could do the charter fishing in lake Michigan, but that costs bucks! Lake Geneva raceway sounds cool, but I doubt I can make it....just had a baby and time is at a premium. Well, someday I'll get to go on one of these meets!

Welcome to the forum !!!
Bring her with You .
As for racing if thera are few people who would like to try it I could ask guys who organize that if we could join them...They only require that wear a helmet....

Mine junior is 3 weeks old.....:) and i completely understand problems with time.. However if anything change, please keep our meeting in "maybe" file...;):

Again I want to make sure You all know that Lake Geneva is only proposition...I'm still waiting for other ideas because as I said, I know it is a long drive for some and probably many more people would come if it was somewhere for example in Chicago....

what about a wheeling meet? is there a place where we could wheel near chicago? i'm in bartlett and i have no problem driving 60 miles, but if there's anything closer....?

Sorry guys..........Auto Sprint in Lake Geneva on March 20 is canceled..... Their next meet is on April 10. So if anyone has different place for meet on March 20 let us know. If not we can reschedule this for April 10 if it is OK with all of You.. I'm sorry and I hope You'll be able to reschedule this meet..

As for offroad meet I could go for something " light" that means sand or mud. if anyone would like to go to Badlands and see what is there I could join him. However it's 3 hours drive so it is not close.......

Actually...I'm planning on going to a detailing meet in WI on 4/9. A few professional detailers are putting together this meet to teach us how to buff and wax our cars using different techniques. If any of you are able to join me that'd be great. Just let me know and I'll give you the guy's email address so that you can sign up. It'd be cool if we can meet up and go up there as a group.

:iagree:

It would be great to get few 4R and go there together..

Please give me some more details about it..for example where is it in WI, is this a private meet or it is organized by some company and what do I have to do to sing up. Please send me PM if You don't want to post it here...

If anyone else is interested just let me know and I'll PM you with the details. :)

It'll be nice if we can get a little group and go together!

I'm alway up to learning new ways to clean my cars. Send the info my way! I'll have to see if I can get some free time.

Hey guys,

New to this forum (have been on yt for awhile). Just chiming in to tell you guys I'm in the chicago area too (crystal lake to be exact), but I'm going to school in Oxford so I can't make any meets until the summer.

I've never been wheeling but am dying to try it, so hopefully I can go with some of you guys soon.

Tim

Welcome to the board. I am east of you over by Grayslake, send me a p.m. when you get back. I know of a local place we can wheel a little bit, nothing big but it's still fun.

ILLINOIS MEET

sounds like we got a bunch of guys out there dying to get out in the dirt.
I'm in Wauconda, Il. I saw one person in Crystal Lake, you're 10 min. from me
