Chirping noise from ujoints?

Have you guys experienced this. After the rain I started hearing noise chirping noise or squeak. I figure it maybe just surface rust from the suspension.

I sprayed some wd40 on coil contact points and it did not go away. Then I sprayed some lube on the ujoints and it quited down for a couple days.

I let it go for a week and finally lubed the ujoints zerks fittings. The noise was reduced but it comes and goes.

THere is no play in the shaft/joints itself.. Any thoughts?

I had this problem as well recently. It took a week or so for the lube to work its way into the ujoints after I had it lubed; the squeaking would come and go as you said. It did eventually go away entirely and mine hasn't been squeaking for a couple of weeks.

Good to hear.. Id hate to replace the joints since they are no play in them..

that doesn't mean they aren't bad.

if they are dry and making noise, likely the damage is done and they should be replaced.

you may be able to extend their life a bit by greasing them. but for how long, who knows.

Yeah, what the mechanic I took mine to told me is one of the joints is starting to seize. He couldn't see any evidence of which one and the only way to know for sure is to drop the shaft and test each joint individually. My squeaking went away so I'm leaving it for now, we'll see how it goes this summer.
