Cig Lighter

The cig lighter on my truck wont work. I dont smoke but its a problem because i can't use my ipod, cell phone charger, or my radar. I took it to my friends dad he checked all the fuses and they are all fine. but there is just no charge going to the cig lighter. my truck did'nt come with a owners manual so i can't look at that to figure it out and i bought a Haynes Book that is basically a manual but i can't find anything in there. anyone have any idea whats wrong with it or how i can fix it?

What year is your truck? You need the ignition on for the 12V to be on in a 4th Gen unless you've done the relay mod.

its a 96, we tried with it on , off everything. there was just nothing going to the cig lighter.

If it's not a fuse it could be the ground. Try a multimeter for 12V from the hot button in the bottom of the socket to a good ground point somewhere else in the vehicle.

take apart your dash. and make sure it's plugged in. here's a picture of the cigerette light plug. it's to the left of the RED circle. the red circle is an LED for the condom light of your cigerette lighter.
