Since I've given up on mounting a temp gauge on my A-pillar, I've decided to go with the mirror like this one. My question is: Has anyone tried the Wedge-Mount version of this? A wedge mount should attach to the factory rear view mirror stem rather than having to glue to the windshield. Given that Windshields in CO tend to only last for a couple of years, I would prefer to not have a mirror that attaches to the windshield and that attaches to the stock mirror stem instead.
Another question (for those who might know) - Can you 'piggyback' the electric power off of the map lights? I guess the only problem there is that the map lights are always powered. Just thinking it would be an easier install if you didn't have to run power lines all the way down to the fusebox.
As for my A-pillar idea, my thought now is to put a transmission temp gauge there instead (I already have the pillar pod.)
