City / Hwy

Just curious what kind of numbers everyone is getting in the city and on the hwy, so far I'm only getting 15.7 in the city and 16 on the hwy. To me that seems crazy and way too low. My husband just thinks I am crazy. Sound about right?

I am only getting 14 mpg. My excursion used to get a little over 16 mpg around town and between 19 -20 on the highway. I was kind of hoping for the same mpg.:redbrick:

I'm getting 20+ average. But I'm not a very aggressive driver. The harder you push it, the worse gas mileage you will get. So if you floor it off the start every time, or drive over 70+mph on the highway, your mileage will likely be less.

Around town I don't exceed 3000 rpm when taking off. highway speedlimit here is 70mph. My miles are hand calculated not using the onboard computer. The computer does show between 17-19mpg on the highway.

Are you seriously saying that the computer is 3-5 mpg off? That is huge. Did you change out anything?

the computer on ours is now showing 19 - I will do a regular calculation next time we fill up, but I can't believe it is off with 3-5mpg

Combined 60% City 40% HWY driving yields be about 18MPG. 100% HWY driving I can get 21.5 at 65MPH and 20 at 75MPH. BTW i have just over 3000miles on the truck, keep in mind if you only have a few hundred miles on the truck it will improve, also watch the acceleration.

No I have stock tires. Maybe the mileage is lower on the limited because of the full time 4wd.

I am not really interested in the actual mileage, but by the fact that you state 14mpg when you write it down and calculate by hand and 17-19 is what the computer says. The computer should be within 1........

Will check and see -- I doubt that I am getting 14-15 if I consider how often we fill the 4Runner up vs. the Armada (that I am getting 14.5 in......)

I went back to check my records. On the highway trip that the computer was showing 17-19 My Calculation was 16.9 which was my best milage so far.My last two tanks were 14.2 and 14.5 and my worst was 13.5. All my own calculations.Hope this clears it up.

The computer on my 2000 VW GTI was 2 mpg optimistic, compared to hand calculations. The computer on my 2003 4Runner is 2-3 mpg optimistic.

My computer on my SR5 says 16.7 and that's with almost 1,800 miles. Also, I've reset my computer a few times while driving on the highway (that's what they say you should do). Over time, the mileage averages out to around 16-17 mpg. I've been doing a lot of standing because of the cold, so that's sure not helping either.

I would say to reset the computer while you are doing highway speed and then see where it's at in a few days.

I am reading 18.3-18.4 on the cars computer with 1200 miles total, almost all city (id say %97 city and %3 highway). I havent reset my calculator yet,but I have just started to push it the last few days (by accelerating harder than i used to) and the mileage has dropped off 0.2 mpg
I have a long highway trip tomorrow, I might reset it for the first time and see what the highway (going 75-80) mileage is.

I just averaged 21.7 MPG with the truck empty on a 45 mile round trip into Sacramento for some shopping and dining.
